What do you know about Wheat?
What do you know about the foods you eat and the affects they have on your body? This post, gives some insight about my personal experience and the harmful effects that Wheat can have on your well-being. The symptoms that I’m about to describe may be odd, but once you get a better understanding of what happens to your body after consuming wheat for prolonged periods of time anything goes.
Four years ago I weighed 260 lbs which my body held on to from several years prior. In November 2011 I noticed that I was getting physical reactions after eating almost everything that crossed my lips. Some of these reactions brought about stomach and abdominal pain from inflammation, bloating, rashes from my head to my toe, my eyes would turn red after consuming anything with sugar whether it was chocolate, pop, juice or a serving of fruit. I also recalled going to the hospital 3 times in one week after having problems breathing because my throat would swell shut. One of the most disturbing things that use to happen to me was that I started blacking-out at friends’ houses and once at a restaurant.
After several month of suffering and my doctor telling me that he didn’t know what was happening to me other than I had allergies to wheat, I was instructed to take “Reactine” everyday as a preventive measure. There was even a couple of cases were I had taken a double dose of Reactine which did not suppress or relieve the reaction. Reactine is an expensive antihistamine which cost me anywhere from $25 to $50 per week depending on if I doubled the dosage or not. After taking matters into my own hands, I did some research and found the video that I provided below explaining some of the problems I encountered.
Learning that I had allergies I still didn’t fully understand the implications of what it would have on my life. After my symptoms went away I made mistakes like most people by indulging in treats or fast foods containing wheat even after watching the video. The full implications of my choices wasn’t realized until I watched the common mistake videos that people make which I’ve also provided below.
Cutting wheat out of my diet and reducing my sugar intake resulted in me loosing 60 lbs in 8 months. This change was made without any physical exercise. Today I weigh 210lbs and I feel more healthier than I have in years. Since I changed my diet I have had less health issues by making better food choices. I now understand that the continual consumption of wheat products can cause progressive health issues if kept unchecked. My previous food choices caused my immune system to fail where everything entering my mouth became a threat to my system. Knowing now that your intestine contains up to 70% of your immune system speaks volumes. Autoimmune diseases are rampant in our nation, communities, and homes. So I ask, “what is your health worth and what will you do to change it”?
If you know anyone who may be suffering from wheat/gluten intolerance please forward this post.
